KANJI/PORRIDGE

URAD DHAL RICE KANJI

Ingredients:

Urad dhal whole-1 cup
Green gram whole-1/2 cup
Rice (Brown or red rice)-1/4 cup
salt a pinch
Jaggery as you need
Ghee 1tsp
Cumin seeds-1tsp
Wheat-1/8th cup
Water-As needed

Method:

Except ghee and Jaggery Boil everything in a pressure cooker for 4 to 5 whistle. Once everything is boiled remove from fire and add powdered jaggery and ghee and mix properly. Serve hot. If you want very thin watery consistency add boiled milk or more water.

This porridge/ kanji gives instant energy to the body with all the essential nutrients. If this is given to a girl when she is entering into teens or adolescence her hip bone will become stronger and will help in avoiding back pain. Also people who want to reduce wait cant have this kanji regularly as it will help put wait.

DRUMSTICK LEAVES KANJI

Ingredients:
Drumstick leaves-1 1/2 cup
red cow peas-1/2 cup
unpolished parboiled rice-1/2 cup
salt as per taste
cumin seeds-1 tsp
water as needed
garlic cloves crushed-3nos

Method:
Cook everything in a pressure cooker with water until all are soft may be 4 to 5 whistle.
Once cooked remove and serve hot like thick porridge or add more boiled water and serve.

Nutritional Info:
High in iron, protein and complex carbohudrates with little Bcomplex vitamins and gives good immunity strength etc.
Good for all type of people.


WHOLE GREEN GRAM RED RICE KANJI
Ingredients:
Whole green gram-1 cup
Red rice-1/2 cup
Jaggery- as per your sweet tooth
(Jaggery can be avoided for diabetic instead use salt and butter milk)
Milk-1 cup(200ml)
water-500 ml or as needed
Cinnamon powder-1/4 tsp(optional)

Method:
Cook everything except jaggery and milk in a pressure cooker with water until they are soft. remove from fire and add jaggery and milk. For diabetic after cooking salt and buttermilk can be added and cinnamon powder can be avoided. For kids you can add Ghee for extra nourishment.

High in protein ,iron, folic acid, Vitamin A, complex carbohydrates traces of vit E , Zinc magnesium calcium and minerals and elements.

BEETROOT HUMMUS What makes beetroot hummus an absolute favourite in parties is the bright and peppy pink colour, besides the lip-smacking flavour of course. Top it with fresh herbs for some zing. Ingredients 2 cups of chickpeas, boiled 1 beetroot, peeled 4-5 garlic cloves ¼ cup of olive oil, plus extra for topping 1 tsp of sesame seeds 1 Tbsp of curd 1 tsp of cumin powder 2 Tbsp of lemon juice Salt to taste coriander leaves to garnish Method Oil and roast the beetroot on the stove or in an oven for 10 minutes.
