OOTHAPPAM

Oothappam is the slightly obese version of dosa....You can create lots of toppings for oothappams with your imagination......

ONION OOTHAPPAM
Ingredients:
Idly or dosa batter which is slightly sour
(i generally use same batter which i prepare for idly)
(idly/dosa all puirpose batter
Parboiled rice-4cups
urad dhal-1 cup(depending on dhal type)
methy seeds-1 to 1 1/2 tsp
salt
soak all and grind and let it ferment till they increase the size. For this hot climate i think it will ferment so easily.)

toppings:
onions chopped
carrots chopped or grated
green chillies chopped
oil as needed

Method:
Heat the tawa in a low heat. Pour a batter to make thicker version of dosa. immediately top the ingredients. Add oil on the top of the dosa and toppings. cook in low flame and cook with lid. Then turn and cook for a minute till onions are into golden colour.
Tadaaaaaa.....your tasty oothappam is ready.
Serve hot with sambar, coconut chutney, or coriander, or red chutney or simply the idly chutney powder(dhal powder).

It has high in carbohydrates and calories, protein and traces of itamins from the choice of topping we use.

You can use pizza toppings, or chutneys, or podi or any toppings to make your people eat interestingly.....

Salads generally served in room temperature or chilled. BUt for this weather we cant have it chilled so for a change lets have warm or hot salad..... STIR FRY SALAD2 Ingredients: carrot-1 fresh green peas-3tbsp beans-4nos black sesame seeds-1tsp olive oil or sesame oil-1tbsp salt a pinch pepper or chilli flakes a pinch optional onion-1 Method: Using the peeler peel the carrots after cleaning it. cut bean into thin stripes. cut onion into thin pieces. You can use any type of vegetables in thin strips. Heat oil and stir fry all the vegetables by tossing it. Make sure the vegetables are just heated but not cooked more than half. MUDAKATHAN KEERAI / BALOON VINE PLANT RECIPES The Tamil system of medicine has incorporated Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha system to treat a number of everyday problems with natural herbs and minimal side effects.
